Was It Necessary To Replace The Air Conditioner Unit?

All air conditioners, after regular usage, become infected with “microbial contamination”. This contamination includes fungi, mold, and bacteria. Air conditioners and heat pumps are the perfect environments for such contaminants. These contaminates become airborne every time you switch your air conditioner on.

So, replacing the air conditioner will fix the problem temporarily but it will recur. A specialist air conditioning cleaner is required to ensure that the unit is hygienically cleaned on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, many air conditioning technicians only clean the filter. This takes them about ten minutes to do. While it may look free from dust particles, is the unit really clean? The mould spores and dust penetrate all parts of the unit, not just the filter. The filter doesn’t stop all contaminates from coming into the air that you breathe.

All air conditioning units need a thorough clean. As a minimum, the technician should:

  • Remove and clean filters
  • Remove and clean all plastic fascias
  • Clean scroll fan and surround
  • Clean evaporator coil
  • Clean and check drains
  • Dry clean all electrical components (PC Board)
  • Sanitise inside unit
  • Clean condensers (outside unit)

The air conditioning technician should be a professionally trained industry specialist that can offer a  guarantee.
